... IS BACK ON THE BBC WITH A BRAND NEW SERIES!
http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/la…
There aren’t many details yet, but the new arena’s gonna be in Glasgow. I never thought this day would come!

I kid you not I have been watching all the old Robot Wars during my lunch at work (watching right now) and this is amazing news :D

I do that sometimes, ‘specially with my favourite robots. Hypnodisk vs Splinter at the bottom of the post has some beautiful carnage.
Between this and one of my very favourite anime - yeah, yeah, lame, I know - that hasn’t had a new episode in ten years getting a fourth season announced recently, I’m over the frigging moon.

I didn’t actually watch that clip just now but that is the exact episode I was on , currently watching the series 4 finale with Pussycat beating Hypnodisc

Pussycat did a really good job in that fight—it’s not often that Hypnodisc goes down without suffering some kind of malfunction, ‘specially after they installed the srimech.

Yup! Craig Charles hosted Robot Wars for almost the entire run—he took over from Jeremy Clarkson, oddly enough, after the first series/season. I’m actually really hopeful they’ll bring him back for the new series, since I’m pretty sure the only other commitment he has on at the moment is filming the next two series of Red Dwarf.
I dunno why, but I really like the idea of Craig Charles filming both Red Dwarf and Robot Wars in 2016. It’d be brilliantly nostalgic.

Hopefully Vlad makes a cameo.

Yeah! See my response to CalzoneGolemn—between Robot Wars coming back, and them filming two new series of Red Dwarf this year, it’s like my childhood’s just suddenly popped back into existence.

There’s been a new BattleBots on the air for a year or so now, right?

Dafuuuuuuuq if there has been I wasn’t in the know! I only watch a few shows (on Netflix, Hulu and HBO GO) so I’m never in the loop with what’s on TV. I got to find some episodes!

yeah Hypnodisc looked pretty much untouchable until that fight, Choas 2 winning in the end though :D

would be great to have Craig Charles back, though isn’t he is some soap like corrie or whichever one it is? if he can’t do it then it should be Robert Lewellyn aka Kryton

Chaos 2 pretty much always did well, but I never loved it like I did Hypnodisc and Razer—not enough torn metal by comparison, I suppose. I did enjoy it when they managed to flip a robot straight out of the arena, though.
I think my favourite flipper’s probably Cassius, ‘cause it was - if I remember right - the first, and watching a robot right itself after being flipped for the first time in Robot Wars history blew my five-year-old mind.

Nope, he left Corrie to return to Red Dwarf around mid-2015! I reacted to the news with a strange feeling of triumph, as I recall.

Yeah Cassius was the first ever srimech and it was Chaos flipping people out of the arena that made me like them but also like Hypnodisc and razor for their annihilation of their opponents by causing as much damage as possible, though watching it as an adult (unlike when I was a kid) I can’t help feel sorry for their opponents robots being destroyed with the time and money put into them

On one level, I do feel a little sorry for them as I’m watching it happen... But I have to admit, my overriding emotion is outright glee. It’s just so gloriously destructive. Like gore in a Mortal Kombat game, only infinitely better ‘cause it’s real robots getting ripped to shreds.
